Emergency Services
Arrival

Upon arrival, we ask that you please follow the Emergency Department guidelines below.

  • Upon arrival, sign in . We use a triage system to sort patients so we can ensure the provider sees the sickest patients first. A triage nurse will briefly assess you to determine the priority of treatment based upon the severity of your illness. Patients with life-threatening illnesses or requiring immediate emergency treatment will be taken immediately to the treatment room.
  • Please refrain from eating or drinking until the provider has seen you . It will shorten the wait if you need lab work, X-rays or surgery that requires an empty stomach.
  • The admitting registrar may ask you or a family member to provide important personal information, such as your address and phone number. This information remains in our computer system and may be updated on future visits to the Emergency Department.
  • Our goal is to see every patient as quickly as possible . However, sometimes wait times are inevitable in a busy emergency setting. Wait times may be caused or extended by life-threatening emergencies, waiting for test results, waiting for consulting physicians or waiting for specialized rooms. Our staff will explain any delays. We are dedicated to eliminating wait times; but if we can’t, we will do everything possible to ensure you are comfortable and properly informed.
  • If you feel you are getting sicker while waiting, notify the staff member at the Registrar’s Desk, and he or she will contact a triage nurse.
